All set for CMC Annual Christmas Charity Quiz
Cork Motor Club's annual Christmas Charity Quiz will take place this year on Tuesday, December 22. Venue of course, will be the club's HQ at the Commons Inn Hotel, on the new Mallow Road, Cork. (that's Blackpool, on the North side, for any visitors).
The main aim of the quiz is to be a light-hearted, fun night and also raise a little money for charity. It is open to all club members (past, present and even future) and their friends. An invitation is hereby going the other Cork clubs of Munster, Imokilly and Skibbereen to come along on the night. Skibbereen & District Car Club provided two teams last year.
The organising team have not been changed. COC for the night will be Brian (Rally.ie) Duggan, with Greg Shinnors, newly promoted to Deputy COC this year, back again to keep Brian on the straight and narrow. I think Greg won some award across the water this year, BRC Champion navigator or something!!).
Sign-on, scrutiny and documentation takes place from 8pm for an 8:30pm start. And I believe entries are being taken on the line. (nobody tell Motorsport Ireland).
I've been reliably informed, as I have every year, that the format for the night will cover everything under the sun from music to history, travel to film, and even a few motorsport questions will also be included. As a help for our visitors from the other Cork motor clubs, Billy Coleman may not be the only answer to some questions this year. Someone tells me Cork has a second British rally champion now.
On a serious note, even if you have not attended the club meetings for a few months (or years) why not come along on December 22 for what has always been a very enjoyable night's entertainment. A donation in aid of charity will be collected from those in attendance on the night. There is no set fee. Give what you can.
Last year's quiz was run in aid of Stuart Mangan, the 26 year old from Fermoy in Co. Cork, who suffered a severe spinal injury while playing rugby in London in April 2008. Stuart very sadly passed away on Friday 7th August at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London.
