Retro Chaps and Gals gather in Delgany for a spot of prizegiving

The awards presentation for the 2009 Irish Retro Challenge will take place on the 20th February 2010 in the Glen of the Downs Golf Club, Delgany, Co Wicklow.
Our own West Cork  Classic Retro was the main event in 2009 (Billy said it, so it must be true)  and in fact the West Cork Retro Classic winners, Eamon Byrne and Paul Phelan, were also the championship winners.

Noel Devlin, Registrar for the 2009  autostation.ie Irish Retro Challenge, also the sponsor and a CMC member (so that's where he learned how to organise events correctly) is looking forward to meeting you there and will announce details of the 2010 Retro Challenge on the night.
Lots more details on www.imrcretro.com and you can book your tickets online with Event Elephant by clicking on www.eventelephant.com/retrochallengeawards

Eamon and Paul are best again in West Cork Retro

Eamonn Byrne and Paul Phelan took another West Cork Classic Retro win when they drove their Mini Cooper S to victory on the 2009 event last weekend (May 15, 16 & 17).
They were followed home by Robert Ganly and Paul Bosdet in a Volvo 1800 with Frank Lenehan and Cath Woodman third in their Datsun 100A. Best club members over the  three days were Owen Murphy and Diarmuid O'Donovan who finished 7th in a Hillman Avenger.

The route has been finalised and all the PR completed. Entries have started to come in. Help on the weekend is now the priority. While the event may not have the status of the Quality Hotels West Cork Rally or the Jim Walsh Forest Rally, it is still a Cork Motor Club event and we all need to help in whatever way we can. John Quill is the person organising the marshals so give him a ring, all help, whether it is for one, two or three days, will be welcome.

The 2009 West Cork Classic Retro will take place over the weekend of May 15th, 16th & 17th.  This year's event will again be part of the Irish Retro Challenge, sponsored by Autostation, main Skoka and Mitsubishi dealers. The 2009 Challenge will consist of four rounds, the TDC Classic, our own West Cork Classic Retro, the IMRC Irish Rally Retro and the UAC  Circuit Retro.
The event is open to all Club Members, whatever type of car you have, be it an old one or a new one! Unfortunately, the overall prizes will only be available to cars which are pre 1977 but there will be classes for modern cars also, both petrol or diesel! Billy tells us that this is a really fantastic event and as some of you will have already worked out, is Cork Motor Club's only  three day rally. It will be based in the Quality Hotel in Clonakilty.
It’s a real endurance test of man and machine, with all sorts of disciplines during the day and during the night.
If you decide that this is not the event for you to compete on, why not give a hand with the marshalling, or PR which needs to be done in the weeks beforehand.

Timetable: The 2009 West Cork Classic Retro will take place over three days, Friday May15, Saturday May16 and Sunday May17.This year's event will be based at the Quality Hotel in Clonakilty where scrutiny takes place on the friday from 7pm. The afternoon competition sees crews head further west to a supper halt at Cons Bar and Seafood restaurant in Kenmare.
